Some comments from Adriano Galliani today on Milan’s plans to buy the hippodrome that sits next to San Siro:
“We hope to have the Champions League final at San Siro in 2016. There will also be metro line M5 that will go straight to the stadium. We will work to bring San Siro into the Elite category and in order to host a Champions League final you must have certain characteristics.
Milan and Inter are trying to acquire the Trotto area [Hippodrome next to the stadium] in order to make San Siro become a fabulous arena, and if we find an agreement with the owners of the Trotto it would become a marvellous thing. I hope to find the agreement and the council is absolutely on board.
To renew San Siro would be fantastic. In the next weeks we will have meetings – it would become a unique place in Europe with car parks, shops and restaurants to create a wonderful sporting arena.”
