Forbes’ list of the 50 world’s most valuable sports teams has been released. Milan are ranked at 37th with a value of $945m. The US business publication offered the following analysis of Milan’s position:
“AC Milan underperforms in matchday revenue because San Siro stadium (which the Rossoneri share with Inter) is antiquated and attendance has steadily declined in recent years.”
COMMENT: It’s worth pointing out that Forbes’ analysis of football teams can be laughable at times. The Business of Soccer list claims Milan’s debt/value(%) is 5% – implying that the club is close to the apparent debt-free levels of Chelsea, whose debt/value(%) is an incredible 0%, and on a par with the financial beast that is Bayern Munich. So take the $945m valuation with a pinch of salt.
